Tests of theories of gravity using radio astronomy: from now to the Square Kilometre Array
Michael Kramer
Resumo
Radio astronomical techniques are important for testing theories of gravity in strong-field regime. I will report on our ongoing experiments involving binary pulsars, searches for pulsar-black hole binaries and imaging observations of the event horizon of the super-massive black in the centre of the Milky Way. I explain how our efforts to detect nHz gravitational waves using pulsar timing arrays complement the measurements with LIGO-like detectors. I will also give an outlook on what is possible with the upcoming Square Kilometre Array (SKA), which promises not only to revolutionize the radio astronomy but astronomy as a whole.
