Gauge fields in inflation

Resumo
There are several motivations to study the role of gauge fields in inflation. On the observational side, magnetic fields on the largest scales of our observable universe have been observed and suggest a non-trivial dynamics in the gauge sector during inflation. On the theoretical side, in some natural inflationary setups irrelevant operators can give rise to resonant production of gauge fields and possibly generate large gravitational waves on large and/or short scales. I will overview both aspects and discuss the observational and theoretical constraints on those phenomenologies.
