Non-Riemannian geometries for gravitational physics

Resumo
That the underlying structure of space-time is Riemannian or not is as a fundamental question as the number of space - time dimensions or the existence of supersymmetry, and that must be answered by experiment, not by convention or tradition. I this talk I will make a quick review on the consequences of Non-Riemannian geometries in gravitational physics, which are still poorly understood. More specifically I will discuss my results on the relation between such geometries and defected crystals, the generic second-order character of the field equations and the absence of ghosts, the existence of geons, wormholes and non-singular space - times and on cosmic bounces.
