Abstract / Resumo
The talk is about the possibility that matter resides on a brane moving in extra dimensions. Such matter is dark by construction but has a specific nonminimal coupling to gravity. The Dirac-Born-Infeld set-up in type II string theory is reviewed first to illustrate how "disformal" matter couplings can emerge naturally. Then general phenomenology of such matter is discussed. Finally, a specific cosmological model with dark D-brane matter is presented and its potential to alleviate the fine-tuning problems of the dark sector is considered.
