LIP opens a 24 months Post-Doctoral position in the area of Space Radiation Environment.
The candidate will develop his/her work at LIP in Lisbon, in the LIP group for “Radiation Environment Studies and Applications for Space Missions” and must be available for frequent travels to the ESA European Space Research Technology Center, in the Netherlands, and to other facilities in Europe.
The position will involve the study of radiation environment in space and in planetary environments, the development, optimization and test of space radiation monitors, and the study of the degradation of electronic devices with radiation. In particular, the candidate will be involved in the study of radiation data collected aboard the AlphaSat and in the development of detectors and in radiation data analysis and simulation for future ESA missions to Mars (i.e. Exomars) and Jupiter (JUICE).
Experience with detector development, and simulation using object-oriented software, namely Geant4 and ROOT, and expertise in event reconstruction and data analysis will be particularly advantageous. The candidate is expected to contribute significantly to the activity of the Group, including to the supervision of PhD and MsC students.
